Ōban, Star-Racers  – 26 x 22′

Every 10.000 years, the greatest pilots in the universe face-off in a mysterious and mythical race: the Great Race of Ōban. It is said the outcome of the competition will radically transform the balance of power within our Galaxy. On Earth, Eva 15 is determined to be reunited with her father, race manager Don Wei, who sent her off to boarding school ten years ago. She joins his famous star-racer team under the alias “Molly”. Before she knows what is happening, “Molly” takes off for the planet Alwas, first stage of the Great Race of Ōban, with champion pilot Rick Thunderbolt and gunner Jordan. The fate of Molly and her friends, as well as the future of the human race, are now inextricably intertwined…

STW’s hit series has aired very successfully in more than 120 countries worldwide including ABC Familly & Toondisney (USA), NHK BS2 & Disney Channel (Japan), GMTV (UK), Super-RTL (Germany), France 3 (Fr), RAI2 (Italy) and Jetix/Disney XD. It won an Animeland Award and a Polymanga Award, and was nominated for a British Academy Award by the Bristish Academy of Film and Television.

The result of six years of development and two and a half years of intensive production in Tokyo and Paris, the series sets itself apart from other series by the quality of its 2D/3D animation and its attention to detail – carefully crafted designs, rich characters and story – which are similar to those usually found only in feature films.

OSR is also a unique artistic collaboration between Japan and Europe. STW’s artistic team have lived and worked in Tokyo for more than 2 years, in perfect osmosis with their Japanese collaborators. Anime « goddess » Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne) composed the opening and the closing songs, and Taku Iwasaki (Witch Hunter Robin, Black Cat) composed more than 80 epic symphonic tracks for the background music.

Thanks to a long restauration process and to the outstanding support of more than 4000 fans during our crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, fans and anime enthusiasts can discover – or rediscover – Oban for the very first time in its original HD FORMAT – the way it was always meant to be seen. “REGION FREE”, the Blu-ray’s are available in both regular and collector editions, and include 11 dubbed languages, English and French subtitles, and more than two and a half hours of bonus features!
